event module not showing "todays" event

I just noticed that if I have an event scheduled for “today” it will not show up in the event module, but it shows up on the calendar just fine.

for instance, last week I scheduled an event for today (4/17) and the event was listed in the event module up until today. I would like to have it shown at least up until start time.

I could not fine any settings in the module or component that would indicate displaying or not displaying “todays” events.
