Can you please post some example character names? In theory once the character assigned to the user the name shouldn’t matters.
So in those cases as a workaround you can assign character to the user manually on the backend (editing the character).
In 0.7 I’ve changed the method how characters are connected to users, I hope that will fix your problem, but I need more information to reproduce that error.
